Virtual Hebrides
Review: This site is huge, it has at least 2,000 pages but we suspect there are alot more as each time we looked we found more. Nearly every photograph can be clicked on to view an enlargement and sometimes an image leads to another page. A bit strange at time but fun also? The site appears to cover every inhabited island, providing maps and a comprehensive guide to them all including the following islands: Isle of Skye,Isle of Lewis,Isle of Harris,Isle of Scalpay,Isle of Barra,Isle of Benbecula,St. Kilda,Isle of Berneray,Isle of Bernera,Isle of Arran,Isle of Bute,Isle of Coll,Isle of Iona,Isle of Jura,Isle of Islay,Isle of Mull,Isle of Jura, plus many more.
The Inner Hebrides and Outer Hebrides are just off the West coast of Scotland. If you are looking for an island getaway or just an island vacation you will find this site more like an online island magazine You are bound to find the holiday isle or holiday destination here if you are looking for something scottish. The site is littered with gorgeous images with an incredible amount of scenic photographs, excellent guides, some of the wonderful views make the real place a "must visit sometime" group of islands. Some local artists also have photographs up on various island sections which have a gallery of photographs together with articles on history and other hebridean subjects.
An area of the site that you as a prospective visitor will find useful is the accommodation section which has been gradually expanding to cover more islands. Tourism is an important part of the local economy and this site is an excellent virtual tourist guide. You will find almost all the information you would require together with links to other sources of information. Click Here to visit the Virtual Hebrides
