Reiki
Reiki is a form of alternative health. It is an ancient form of energy healing in which a properly attuned Reiki Practitioner serves as a conduit for Universal Life Force (or ReiKi). The Reiki practitioner (or Reiki Master) opens them self up as a conduit for a semi-sentient energy summoned from a higher source to facilitate healing or correct a person’s aura.
Reiki works on the chakra system. The chakra system is the energy center in the body and it is held that there are seven major chakras. The literal translation of the word is "circle or wheel" and it is believed that subtle nerve channels converge in a similar fashion to a wheel. Reiki is closely associated with the Buddhist faith and Yoga.
The Reiki Master allows him/herself to be a channel or vessel for the transformative power of God’s love. He may use his hands or crystals on or around the person to be healed with the intent of allowing the nergy to flow into the afflicted part of the body.
The energy that flows through the body is refered to as the “Universal Life Force”, the same life force that the Chinese refer to as "Chi". Everything in the universe is made from the physical form of this energy and can therefore be effected by the energy around it. Some Reiki masters heal other objects, besides the human body, such as computers and cars.
To be healed by Reiki you do not actually need to be in the physical presence of the Reiki Master. The Reiki healing of an individual at a distance is known as "remote healing". However the Reiki master may need an object that represents the person, if this is not possible he may make one. The Reiki master then treats the object and the person is healed a the same time!
Reiki may be refered to more as a religion that a therapy. There are clear belief systems in place. The master allows himself to be a tool of God and may seek guidance from a "silent voice" while healing a person.
