Natural Healing
Natural healing is closely associated with Holistic Medicine, Alternative Medicine and Complementary Medicine. Natural Healing or natural health is also know as alternative health but Natural healing usually refers to the use of non-invasive and non-pharmaceuticals techniques to help heal the patient.
Natural healing refers to the ability to naturally heal the body and the ultimate responsibility is the patients. The holistic approach to natural healing encompasses many practices as it is assumed that the treatment should match the person and therefore leads to a bespoke mode of treatment. Treatments & techniques can include Acupressure , Acupuncture, Alexander Technique, Apitherapy, Aromatherapy, Aura Soma, Ayurveda, Bach Flowers, Biofeedback, Breathing Relaxation, Breathwork, Chelation Therapy, Chinese Medicine, Chiropractic, Clay Therapy, Color Photostimulation, Cranial Osteopathy, Dreamwork, Exercise, Feldenkrais, Feng Shui Gemstones, Guided Imagery, Healing Humor, Herbology, Homeopathy, Hypnosis, Iridology, Kinesiology, Leech Therapy, Lightstreams: Gemstones, Macrobiotic, Magnetic Therapy, Massage: Swedish, Massage: Shiatsu, Massage: On site/chair, Massage: Polarity Therapy, Massage: Myofascia, Meditation,

Alternative and natural healing methods continue to grow in popularity across the globe. Some natural healing methods are extrememly popular such as acupuncture which is often used as a complementary medicine and is even availlable, in some areas of the U.K. on their National Health Service. Before acceptance and adoption, by mainstream medicine, natural healing techniques need to be proven to be safe and effective. Acupuncture is now used as a natural method to control chronic pain which is much safer than a great many fo the drug treatments available today.
Aromatherapy is one of the most socially acceptable form of natural healing as it has been known for a long time that there are a great many active ingredients that can have a profound effect upon the body. Lavender has been proven to have relaxing properties and is used to aid relaxation and sleep, These properties can help with muscle problems where other treatments fail. I suffer from severe muscle spasms which, at the moment, are most common in my back. I have tried a great many treatments to help with this including quinine (to stop cramps) and I am currently using Baclofen but I prefer to keep my doseage low. I am able to do this by using a mixture of essential oils (which include lavender) which is gently massaged into the skin around the area that is most problematic.
Overall natural healing is becoming increasingly popular in the West as part of our, ever-changing, lifestyles. However a great many of these techniques have been widely used in the East for centuries. The West's reliance upon science is, possibly, the main reason for the slow acceptance. The West has a great many systems in place to protect the general public from new drugs (that have been developed commercially) becoming accessible before adequate testing of safety has been carried out. There is a definite requirement of proof before use. Most natural healing methods are, therefore, unable or very difficult to be tested in this way. We must ask ourselves a question, why, if these methods are not effective treatments, are they still widely used in the East after many centuries of use by the masses?
