Body Care: Body Care Basics
It is only recently that the majority of our population uses mass produced and mass marketed body care products. In the past, and in some areas still today, the majority relied upon natural methods of body care. However modern society is now starting to understand the many benefits of natural products. So much of daily life places unnatural pressures on our bodies these external influences range from over exposure to UV rays (in the fight for the bronzed look) to the intake of preservatives in our food.
There is so much truth in the saying "You are what you eat" that we are continually being told to cut down on the amount of fats and carbohydrates that we each consume. On the point of body care Western Civilization is in contradiction, our glossy magazines promote the body beautiful and the skin 'n' bones models create pressures for a thin body while our societies suffer from increasing obesity. Things are beginning to change and we are starting to see healthier options in the most unexpected of places such as MacDonald's Restaurants. True body care should be for both the internal and external. We should eat far healthier than we do but we should also take a look at external influences on our bodies.
The most obvious external factor in body care is the sun and UV rays. Over exposure to the sun can lead to premature ageing of the sun. Most alarming is the over use of sun beds which blaze down their harmful UV rays directly onto the body, even pre-teens are now using sun beds at dangerous levels. One hopeful sign is the increasing understanding that, when exposed to the sun, it is best to use a high factor sun cream/sun block.
The body is a finely balance tool, it is to be looked after with great care. If anything disturbs this balance the body reacts presenting related symptoms. We tend to disregard the pressures of modern living and the stress that comes with it but stress can have devastating effects upon the body. At high stress levels the need for good body care is of utmost importance. The act of caring for your body can actual help in the fight against stress. What can be more relaxing than a soak in a bath with your favorite essential oil? While relaxing the muscles of our body relax and the oils can do their work.
Body care should be your number one priority. Take time out to pamper yourself, using natural products where possible. Take a good look at your life and consider areas where you may be able to replace the items you are currently using for those that are natural. Slowly, as your regime progresses, you will begin to feel the benefits and, I promise you, you WILL enjoy it.
